Trade Cashback may receive affiliate commission from eligible referrals. Our exchange setup pages check partner offers for your location. Exchange registration does not itself establish cashback eligibility.
What changes if you already have an account?
If you have accounts on both exchanges, the question is whether either can join the relevant affiliate relationship. OKX publishes existing-user review and re-engagement routes. MEXC documents a 30-day process for adding a missing referrer to an eligible main account. Those processes solve different problems.
Keep your account creation date, existing referrer, regional entity and usual trading method handy. For a new account, use the OKX registration guide or MEXC registration guide; this comparison concentrates on choosing the appropriate path rather than repeating the registration screens.
For ordinary new-account attribution, OKX's Referral Program FAQ requires the code before registration finishes; it cannot simply be added afterwards. That rule is distinct from the separately approved existing-user routes.
Identify the regional account and product first
Check your serving company against OKX's Terms of Service. A regional account does not automatically participate in the global affiliate arrangement. Read the Risk & Compliance Disclosure for country and product restrictions, then check our OKX setup page.
MEXC's User Agreement restricts Russia and Belarus, and its Netherlands wind-down notice covers affected Dutch accounts. Provide your actual residence and identity information. Website access, completed KYC or a campaign advertisement does not establish eligibility for every product or partner offer.
Reconnection and missing-referrer binding are different
| Account situation | OKX question | MEXC question |
|---|---|---|
| Not registered yet | Is this the correct regional account and intended invitation? | Does the registration form show the intended referrer? |
| Recently registered without a referrer | Is an existing-user application available for this account? | Is this an unlinked main account within the 30-day window? |
| Already has a referrer | Does an approved existing-user or lapsed-user route apply? | A linked invitation code cannot be changed or removed under the published FAQ. |
| Account outside the published criteria | Request an account-specific answer before proceeding. | Do not treat support contact as guaranteed reassignment. |
OKX's existing-user invitation guide, updated 7 September 2026, describes a separate invitation and application reviewed by OKX. Its stated 24-hour completion applies to eligible requests. A rejected or unavailable application is not fixed by submitting the UID to Trade Cashback.
OKX's affiliate rules, updated 29 September 2026, limit the regional existing-user application to eligible identity-verified main accounts with low activity. They also describe a separate re-engagement route after 180 days without deposits, trades or withdrawal transfers. Entry must be through an approved referral channel, not direct app login. Neither mechanism guarantees acceptance for every account.
MEXC's referrer-linking guide covers unlinked main accounts within 30 days of registration, excluding subaccounts. The referrer must have registered earlier and cannot share the user's identity information. Its Affiliate FAQ says a bound code cannot be changed or removed. OKX's reconnection rules do not apply to an existing MEXC relationship.
KYC approval does not confirm the affiliate relationship
OKX's individual verification guide, updated 25 August 2026, requires advanced identity verification for individual account use. MEXC's KYC notice requires verification for platform services and withdrawals. Neither route makes these checks optional.
A verified account may still be outside a partner offer. A UID identifies the submitted account; it does not supply exchange KYC or prove attribution. Follow the cashback setup guide and keep access credentials with the exchange.
Use the fee actually charged to your account
MEXC's affiliate-channel fee explanation, dated 24 April 2026, says rates may follow the cooperation agreement and differ from default tariffs; actual system charges prevail. A default fee table and a service percentage may therefore miss what your account pays.
Check campaign exclusions as well. OKX's affiliate rules exclude zero-fee trades, fees offset by specified credits or vouchers, special-rate trades and other non-commissionable account categories. MEXC's Affiliate FAQ excludes API trades and bonus-offset fees, and bases commission on actual fees rather than volume. An exclusion documented for one exchange must not be assumed to apply identically to the other.
Exchange commission sharing and Trade Cashback's service offer have separate conditions. This comparison does not establish how they combine for a particular account. Do not add displayed percentages together. Use the applicable service terms and approved fee report before budgeting a refund; the MEXC setup page provides the current service offer.
Related fee guide added on 24 October 2026: our MEXC zero-fee cashback explanation examines current public fee descriptions, account and pair conditions, and the difference between a free trade and paid fees excluded from cashback. The account-path research here retains its 21 October review date.
Compare the remaining fee, not just the refund
Consider three hypothetical reports with an assumed 30% service share of approved eligible fees. These are arithmetic examples, not OKX or MEXC tariffs, campaign offers or verified account outcomes:
| Example | Fees paid | Approved eligible fees | Example cashback | Fee left after cashback |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Partly eligible fees | 80 USDT | 50 USDT | 50 × 0.30 = 15 USDT | 65 USDT |
| Fees not eligible | 80 USDT | 0 USDT | 0 USDT | 80 USDT |
| No trading fee charged | 0 USDT | 0 USDT | 0 USDT | 0 USDT |
The last example has neither cashback nor a trading fee: a bigger refund alone does not establish a cheaper setup. Keep product and execution assumptions consistent. Funding, spread, slippage, withdrawals and trading losses are outside this table. The cashback calculator explores assumptions; it does not establish eligibility.
Ask for confirmation in the right order
- 1Confirm the exchange entity, residence and intended product are supported by the relevant offer.
- 2Check account age and current referral status. Ask about the existing-user route that applies, rather than trying an unrelated new-account link.
- 3Confirm the actual fee schedule, trading method and campaign exclusions for your account.
- 4Submit the correct main-account UID through Trade Cashback and await the relationship review.
- 5Check the approved fee report and available balance before treating an estimate as payable cashback.
Review OKX account options or MEXC account options according to that result. If neither qualifies, keep the accounts unchanged while seeking clarification. Opening duplicates, moving verification or trading extra to chase a reward is not a solution supplied by this comparison.
Sources and review scope
On 21 October 2026, Trade Cashback reviewed these official sources and checked the public OKX invitation landing page and MEXC registration form without registering an account or trading. Current numeric tariffs and a combined cashback rate were not verified. Registration, approved attribution and payout remain separate outcomes.
